DL Communications is seeking a suitably experienced Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Rockingham, WA. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing secure systems to support our Defence customer. The position is available for an initial 12-month contract with the option for further engagement.
The successful candidate will be required to operate autonomously and be self-driven in achieving and implementing ISM/Essential 8 controls. They will be required to produce well-articulated and detailed documentation to support the system. Throughout the engagement, the successful candidate will be required to provide support to an operational Defence site.
What we are looking for
Whilst a candidate’s attitude and capability to learn new skills in a challenging environment such as Defence is important, preference will be given to someone who possesses as many of the following as possible:
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Solid networking understanding, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching, VLAN configuration and firewall policies.
- Experience in network/system security, securing Windows and Linux systems in line with Essential 8 and ISM controls.
- Expertise in Windows Server Virtualisation (Hyper-V)
- Expertise in on-premise environments using Active Directory, Certificate Authority, Exchange, Microsoft SQL, WSUS, WDAC
- Knowledge of Juniper firewalls, routers, and switch configuration
- Experience in implementing network backup solutions.
- Understanding of network vulnerability scanners, Antivirus deployment, log analysis software is highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and present concise reports, briefings and updates.
- Experience working within a Defence or government industry.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune
Desired but not necessary
- Familiarity with electrical and data interface standards and protocols (including RS232, RS422, USB, Ethernet, RF modulation).
- Experience with product configuration control and baseline management.
- Familiarity with Electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers and network throughput testers
It is essential that you have a minimum of 3-5 years demonstrated experience of computer system architecture, systems administration, or network design. A broad understanding of Dell server hardware, system hardening and an ability to adapt to new systems is highly desired. This position may require out of hours support when required.
Work will largely be performed in our Rockingham office and the adjacent Garden Island Naval base. Some interstate travel may be required. Due to the work on a Defence establishment, an Australian Defence security clearance will be needed, which includes the requirement to hold Australian citizenship. A valid driver’s licence is also a requirement.
Minimum Requirements
- Candidates will be required to hold and maintain a TSPV security clearance.
- Candidates must be an Australian Citizen.
- Candidates will be required to undergo an Australian National Police Clearance check.
